Lice are spread from head to head contact - sharing hats, combs, brushes even clothing and bedding.

Lice eggs (nits) look like yellow, tan or brown dots before they hatch. After hatching the shell looks similar to dandruff, but can not be removed by brushing off.
After laid lice eggs hatch within 1 to 2 weeks.
Nymphs (baby lice) are brownish tan and become adult lice within 7 days after they hatch.
Lice can not live off human hosts for more than 24-48 hours.
